Aquamandix / Sand / pH Filter Dome Hole with Clack Valve

Product Description

This mix can be used for iron and manganese removal by oxidation. The Aquamandix (manganese dioxide) helps oxidize the iron and the sand traps the precipitate, They are similar to Birm and Filox but slightly more robust than Birm and cheaper than Filox. They requires a pH of 7 or more for iron removal and 8 for manganese removal plus a dissolved oxygen level of at least 15%.

In this kit we have added Juraperle to increase the pH. The juraperle (calcium carbonate) will dissolve over time so will need topping from time to time. The domehole fitting allows for easy addition of pH media without having to dismantle your system.

This unit is supplied partially assembled for shipping. Some assembly will be required. All components and instructions will be supplied.

This system relies on there being enough dissolved oxygen in the water to work. This kit has the option of adding an air draw kit - this puts an air pocket above the media so as the water cascades through it oxygen is adsorbed into the water.
