Technical Resources
The Fleck 2850/1650 AiQ NBP Water Softener Valve combines the proven Fleck 2850 heavy-duty brass valve platform with Pentair's latest Advanced-iQ (AiQ) controller and powerhead, providing modern electronic control for commercial and industrial water softening applications.
Designed as the new-generation alternative to Fleck 2850 valves previously supplied with SXT control, the AiQ platform provides an intuitive full-colour interface, simplified programming, USB-C connectivity and a modular powerhead designed to make installation and servicing easier.
This configuration uses the Fleck 1650 brine system with a ⅜" brine connection and incorporates NBP (No Bypass Piston) operation, preventing untreated water from passing to service during regeneration.

Advanced AiQ Control
Pentair's AiQ powerhead provides a modern replacement for the traditional Fleck electronic control platform. Programming can be carried out directly through the controller or using the USB-C connection.
USB-C functionality supports programming, data transfer, usage history retrieval, software updates, diagnostics and troubleshooting. The controller can also be programmed before installation, while flash programming allows predefined configurations to be transferred efficiently between multiple valves.
Regeneration Cycle
The Fleck 2850/1650 AiQ uses a programmable downflow softening regeneration sequence:
-
Backwash
-
Brine and slow rinse
-
Rapid rinse
-
Brine tank refill
-
Service
The NBP configuration prevents untreated water from being supplied during regeneration, making the valve particularly suitable for commercial and industrial applications where untreated bypass water is undesirable.
Typical Applications
The Fleck 2850/1650 AiQ NBP is designed for commercial and industrial water softening systems requiring a robust brass control valve, high flow capacity and reliable automatic regeneration.
It provides a modern AiQ-controlled option for installations traditionally using the Fleck 2850/1650 SXT NBP, including the former V285SC-603 configuration.
