There are several versions of this valve for filtration (timer only) and softener applications (timer or metered, mechanical or electronic). The SE model is the older version electronc version and the SXT is the new digital version.

There is also the choice of a 1600 or 1700 model for the softener heads - if you are not sure which model you require measure the outside diameter of the brine uptake pipe (the pipe from your brine tank to valve head) - if it is 3/8" it is a 1600 head or if it is 1/2" it is a 1700 head.
