How They Work

These cartridges typically employ a process called ion exchange. This involves the use of a resin bed within the cartridge that contains positively charged ions (cations). When water passes through the cartridge, the nitrate ions (which are negatively charged) are attracted to the resin bed and exchange places with the ions already present in the resin.
