Ecosoft Aquapoint XL Duo Replacement Filter Set – Sediment & Hydrogen Sulphide

Keep your Ecosoft Aquapoint XL Duo Whole House Water Filter performing at its best with this genuine replacement filter set, specifically configured for homes experiencing sediment and hydrogen sulphide (rotten egg) odours. This replacement pack contains the same cartridge combination recommended by Ecosoft for treating water affected by suspended solids together with hydrogen sulphide, helping to restore fresh-smelling, cleaner water throughout your entire property.

The first-stage 20 micron polypropylene sediment filter (CPV452020ECO) removes sand, silt, rust and other suspended particles, protecting the catalytic carbon cartridge from premature fouling while extending its service life. The second-stage Catalytic Activated Carbon Hydrogen Sulphide Filter (CRVS4520ECO) uses premium Centaur® catalytic activated carbon to significantly reduce hydrogen sulphide, eliminating unpleasant "rotten egg" odours while improving the taste and smell of your water.

Designed for standard 4.5" × 20" Big Blue filter housings, these genuine Ecosoft cartridges install directly into the Aquapoint XL Duo system without modification, making routine maintenance quick and straightforward.

How the Filter Set Works

Stage 1 – Sediment Filtration

The polypropylene sediment cartridge captures larger particles including sand, silt, clay, rust and pipe debris. Removing these contaminants first protects the catalytic carbon filter, helping maximise its performance and lifespan.

Stage 2 – Hydrogen Sulphide Reduction

The catalytic activated carbon cartridge is specially engineered to adsorb hydrogen sulphide responsible for unpleasant sulphur odours while also improving the overall taste and smell of your water.

Replacement Interval

For optimum performance, cartridges should typically be replaced every 3–6 months, although replacement frequency will vary depending on:

  • Water consumption

  • Sediment loading

  • Hydrogen sulphide concentration

  • Overall water quality

Higher levels of contamination may require more frequent cartridge changes.

Important Performance Information

Unlike many catalytic carbon filters that advertise very high flow rates, the Ecosoft hydrogen sulphide cartridge is designed to maximise contact time between the water and the catalytic carbon media. This longer contact time allows more effective oxidation and adsorption of hydrogen sulphide, delivering superior odour reduction rather than simply prioritising maximum flow.

For the best treatment performance, the hydrogen sulphide cartridge is intended to operate at a recommended service flow of approximately 5 L/min. Exceeding this flow does not damage the filter, but it can reduce contact time and therefore lower odour removal efficiency. This conservative rating reflects Ecosoft's emphasis on treatment performance rather than headline flow figures.

Frequently Asked Questions

What specific contaminants do the Ecosoft Sediment and Iron Reduction Filters target?
These filters effectively remove sediments like sand, silt, clay, rust particles, and scale debris, while also reducing dissolved and oxidised iron to improve water clarity and quality.
Are these replacement filters compatible with other water filter systems?
No, these filters are specifically designed for the Ecosoft Aquapoint XL Duo Whole House Water Filter – Sediment & Iron system, and may not fit or function properly in other filter housings.
How often should I replace the Ecosoft sediment and iron reduction filters?
It is recommended to replace the sediment and iron reduction cartridges every 3 to 6 months, depending on water quality and household usage, to maintain optimal filtration performance.
What advantages does the Ecosoft Ferromix Iron Reduction Cartridge offer?
The Ferromix cartridge reduces both dissolved and oxidised iron, helping to eliminate iron staining, metallic tastes, and rusty discolouration, while protecting your plumbing and appliances from iron deposits.
How does the flow rate of these filters affect their performance?
The filters are designed for a maximum flow rate of about 5 litres per minute, which ensures adequate contact time with the media for effective iron reduction and sediment removal, rather than higher flow rates that could decrease efficiency.
