How the Two-Stage Filtration Works

Stage 1 – Ecosoft DGD Dual Gradient Sediment Filter

The first stage features the Ecosoft DGD 4.5" x 20" polypropylene dual-density sediment cartridge.

Its innovative dual-gradient construction captures larger particles on the outer layers while progressively removing finer sediment deeper within the filter.

This provides excellent protection against:

The large dirt-holding capacity helps extend cartridge life while protecting the catalytic carbon cartridge in the second stage.

Stage 2 – Ecosoft Catalytic Activated Carbon Hydrogen Sulphide Cartridge

The second stage contains the Ecosoft CRVS4520ECO Catalytic Activated Carbon Cartridge, specifically developed for reducing hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) commonly found in private water supplies.

The catalytic carbon media helps reduce:

Hydrogen sulphide naturally occurs in many boreholes and wells, producing a distinctive sulphurous smell. The catalytic activated carbon media adsorbs and oxidises the gas, leaving water noticeably fresher and more pleasant to use.

Important Flow Rate Information

Although the Aquapoint XL Duo housing is capable of handling flow rates up to 1.8 m³/hour (30 LPM), the supplied CRVS4520ECO hydrogen sulphide cartridge has a recommended service flow rate of approximately 5 litres per minute (0.3 m³/hour) for optimum hydrogen sulphide removal.

Hydrogen sulphide removal depends on the amount of time the water remains in contact with the catalytic carbon media. At higher flow rates, the contact time is reduced, which can decrease H₂S removal efficiency and allow some sulphur odour to remain, particularly when several outlets are being used simultaneously.
